Born in San Francisco, Built for SF Families

Amores was founded by a Bay Area parent who couldn't find the childcare she wanted for her own child — so she built it.

A Parent's Frustration Became a Community's Solution

In 2018, our founder Fanny was on seven different daycare waitlists for her infant daughter. The places that had openings felt institutional. The quality play-based programs she wanted had 18-month waits. And none of them were close to Taylor Street, where she worked.

So Fanny — a former early childhood educator with 12 years of classroom experience — opened Amores Daycare. She started with six infants, two teachers, and a beautifully prepared room on the third floor of a building two blocks from BART.

Eight years later, Amores serves over 60 families across multiple classrooms and now includes after-school care. But the original mission hasn't changed: create the kind of play-based learning environment you'd actually want for your own child — rigorous, warm, joyful, and designed for the reality of San Francisco family life.

Our Core Values

These principles guide every decision we make — from how we design our classrooms to how we communicate with families.

Every Child Is Capable

We believe every child is a natural learner. Our job is to create the conditions for learning to happen through play and exploration — not to deliver it.

Transparency Is Non-Negotiable

Parents are partners, not customers. We share honestly — the breakthroughs and the hard days. No sugarcoating, no surprises.

The Environment Is the Teacher

We invest deeply in beautiful, prepared spaces. A well-designed classroom does as much teaching as a qualified educator.

Diversity Makes Us Stronger

Our classrooms reflect San Francisco — children of all backgrounds, languages, and family structures learning together from the start.

Staff Wellbeing = Child Wellbeing

We pay above-market wages, provide benefits, and maintain reasonable ratios because burnt-out teachers cannot give children what they need.

No Child Is "Behind"

Development is not a race. We meet each child where they are, celebrate every milestone, and never compare children to each other.

Meet Your Child's Team

Our educators aren't just qualified — they're committed. Average tenure at Amores is 4.2 years, well above the SF childcare industry average.
